About

Project E-FARMS is an educational initiative spanning three Hispanic-Serving Institutions in California: California State University, Los Angeles, California State University, Bakersfield, and San Diego State University. Funded by the US Department of Agriculture-National Institute of Food and Agriculture-Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program (Grant #2023-77040-41314), the project aims to transform chemistry education within food and agricultural sciences. Recognizing the challenges students face with abstract chemistry concepts, this initiative employs an asset-based framework, evidence-based teaching strategies, and cutting-edge molecular dynamics simulation. By providing practical applications and fostering science identity, the project aims to improve student engagement, academic success, and retention in food and agricultural science majors.
